Powertex, the renowned in-house brand of Axel Johnson International - Lifting Solutions Group, is excited to launch three ground-breaking products made entirely from recycled polyester (r-PET). These new additions to the product line aim to provide a more sustainable choice without compromising on quality and safety, revolutionising the lifting industry.

Traditionally, Powertex's PRS round slings, PWE webbing slings and Trucker webbing lashings have been manufactured from virgin polyester. However, Powertex has proudly pioneered the introduction of textile lifting products and webbing lashings made from recycled polyester material (r-PET). Using recycled PET bottles as raw materials effectively reduces the carbon footprint associated with the manufacture of these essential lifting solutions.

To accurately quantify the reduction in climate impact, Powertex partnered with a renowned external consultant to conduct a comprehensive climate life cycle assessment (LCA) with a cradle-to-gate perspective (in accordance with ISO 14067). The results are remarkable, showing an estimated reduction in CO2e emissions of 75% for round slings, 70% for sling slings and 42% for strap lashings compared to their traditional polyester counterparts.

From July, the new products will be available across all European Lift Solutions Group companies, including Certex, Mennens, Traction Levage, Cables Y Eslingas, Lifting Gear UK and Lifting Gear and Safety.

With demonstrated improvements in sustainability, these products have been incorporated into the recently launched™ Aspire range by Liftings Solutions Group. The™ Aspire range represents Axel Johnson International - Lifting Solutions Group's commitment to providing the market with fact-based, more sustainable choices. Lifting Solutions Group has carefully selected this range to help customers make informed decisions that align with their sustainability goals.

"We are delighted to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the lifting industry," - said Hugo Gerrets, business development director - Powertex and Ropetex at Axel Johnson International - Lifting Solutions. "The introduction of these new Powertex r-PET products enables customers to make more sustainable choices while maintaining performance and safety standards. By working with an external consultant to fact-check against relevant international ISO standards, we are assuring our customers that we are truly helping them to reduce their carbon footprint."
